Country Roots

First things first, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jaime Minten- the eye behind the lens of Country Roots Photography. I am a pretty lucky lady to have what I do in life. I have been married to my amazing husband and high school sweetheart for seven years and we are the proud parents to the sweetest doodle, Maple. I have been so blessed to have found love.

I grew up just on the edge of a small town called Oil Springs, Ontario. You ever heard of it? If you're not from around here then chances are you probably haven't. It's one of those you blink and you miss it kind of places. Despite this I absolutely adored growing up here. I spent a lot of my childhood roaming around the countryside, riding in tractors with my Dad and climbing into the neighbour's pasture with my brothers and sister. I loved growing up where I did and always enjoyed hearing stories from both of my parent's childhood as well. You see, they grew up in the middle of nowhere. They grew up country. They were a part of big, farming families and for that I am so thankful. The roots run deep and this is where I got the idea for the name, Country Roots. Something I love and it is where I came from. Farming has been apart of my family's livelihood for generations and it is still a part of who I am and always will be.

My love of photography began when I was just a young girl. Taking pictures of the barn beside our house or down the country roads while riding my bike. I got my first digital camera when I was in elementary school and I have loved it ever since. Capturing special moments for people is really what I love. Being able to look back on a moment in time forever is pretty amazing. This is why I do it. To remember moments. To capture special times. To be able to look back in years to come and have one image spark a memory or a feeling. These things we can't get back ever again- if we snap a photo of them then we are able to take ourselves back to that moment in time and remember.
